Two UT architecture professors mark 50 years in the classroom
Larry Speck and Michael Garrison have each spent five decades teaching at the UT Austin School of Architecture. Their work connects campus education with buildings, design practice and environmental research across Austin and beyond.

Speck, the W.L. Moody, Jr. Centennial Professor in Architecture, has taught more than 35,000 students during his UT career and served nine years as dean. His Austin projects include Austin Bergstrom International Airport, Dell Medical School and the Capitol Mall.
Garrison's work has focused on architecture and green building design, with grants from federal agencies including the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. He has also worked with the DOE Solar Decathlon and is preparing an architectural guidebook built from thousands of sketches.
